Fordland High School is one of the schools in Missouri considered among the best high schools in America according to the 2021 U.S. News & World Best High Schools Report.  Fordland High is ranked 2nd in the Springfield Metro Area and 68th within Missouri. Students in Fordland have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Biology, and Computer Applications.  The Advanced Placement participation rate at Fordland High is 21% of the student body.  The ranking methodology uses state education data from the 2018-2019 school year. Additional data was provided by the College Board and International Baccalaureate on their respective college-prep programs, Advanced Placement and IB.

During the past five years, Fordland High School was honored as a one of the nation’s top schools. The high school has been ranked twice in the U.S. News & World Best High Schools Report as the top high school in the Springfield Metro area in 2017 and 2020 and in the top 3 high schools in the Springfield Metro Area in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021.  The Fordland School District over the past five years has also been recognized as a model school by the U.S. Department of Education in the Future Ready School guidebook to success and has been highlighted in Education Week and District Administrator publications.
